Day 5: Friday June 17 - Disney World Magic Kingdom (again)

We got up "early" this morning so that we could arrive at the Magic Kingdom right at its opening. Everyone wanted to go on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride but there were no Fast Passes and waiting time during the course of the day was well over two hours. We left the house at 0800 and got to the park before 0830. They opened the gates to the Monorail and the Ferry about 10 minutes after we arrived. We got on the Ferry and were across the pond relatively quickly. Once there and through security, we scurried over to the Mine, Terri leading the way. By the time we got there, the wait time was "only" 50 minutes. We actually got on-board the ride after about 40 minutes. It was a good ride.

After the mine ride, we hoped on board the Barnstormer, there was only about 5 minutes wait and, I thought, it was as good a ride as the mine ride, just not as elaborate.
Then we did the Dumbo ride. I watched from the side lines as it looked a little scary to me,

Then we took the train to Adventureland.

Finishing up the morning, we rode the Pirates of the Caribbean. It was good. Terri found a pack of game cards she liked. After that we headed back to the parking lot. The thought is that we would come later this afternoon or tonight. We'll see.

We got caught in a brief deluge before getting out of the park. Gavin did not seem to mind standing in the shower.

Took the monorail back to the parking lot. Stopped at the grocery on the way back to the house.

To my surprise, a little after 5:00 pm, we headed out to Epcot. We rode on two rides, Spaceship Earth (a really slow paced ride) and Mission Space, a simulated ride where you blasted off from Earth and landed on Mars. The latter ride was interesting, but considering all the hype preceding the ride (warning people of how terrifying it would be), it was a bit of a letdown. And we selected the "more intense "orange" version over the "green" less intense version.

We also tried Coke Cola products from around the world (everyone, but Terri, thought the Italian was the least desirable due to its bitterness) and we shopped in China and Germany. We debated about having dinner in the park, but due to the time, the prices and our state of exhaustion, we decided to wait until we got back to the house. It was getting on to where some of the evening shows were going to begin, but we were getting tired. So, we just walked the entire circuit around the lake.

By the time we got home, we were all exhausted to the extent that we were not even willing to discuss what we might do on the following day.

Terri says she walked 18,418 steps today, or 7.6 miles of walking during the day, bringing the total to 26.9 miles.
